Our global advocacy efforts focus on centering the voices of West African communities and fostering a favorable ecosystem for effective community health systems.

What Do We Advocate For?

We advocate to strengthen equitable community health systems in Francophone West Africa for both patients and healthcare providers. Our advocacy includes the following thematic: 

  • Universal Health Coverage 
  • Professional Community Health Workers 
  • Gender responsive health systems  
  • Climate accountability, mitigation, and resiliency, which also includes pandemic Prevention, Preparedness, and Response 
  • Breaking down vertical silos to fund integrated, patient-centered healthcare 
Community Health Impact Coalition (CHIC)

Integrate Health is a founding member of the Community Health Impact Coalition (CHIC), which exists to make professional CHWs the norm worldwide. We contributed to the 2017 Practitioner Expertise to Optimize Community Health Systems report, which identified eight best practices for effective CHW programs. Seven of these practices were incorporated into the WHO CHW guidelines in 2018. Additionally, thirteen of the CHWs we support have completed the CHIC CHWs Advocacy online course and are now part of the CHWs Speakers Bureau.

WHO CSO Commission

Integrate Health is an active member of the WHO Civil Society Organizations (CSO) Commission, which aims to enhance WHO’s engagement with civil society to achieve health for all and the health-related SDGs. We provide expertise on community health systems and sharing our experiences from West Africa to inform global policies. We also contribute to developing and refining WHO’s standard operating procedures for civil society engagement.

Resilience Action Network Africa (RANA)

Integrate Health participates in the Resilience Action Network Africa (RANA), an African CSO advocacy network dedicated to strengthening resilience and advancing the African Union’s New Public Health Order through African-led solutions. We contribute to RANA by sharing best practices from West Africa, engaging in working groups and policy development, and collaborating on advocacy campaigns.

Integrate Health actively participates in the Climate x Health Network, which supports strategic global advocacy in the climate and health landscape to address the climate crisis and build resilient health systems. By leveraging resources from coalition members, we continue to develop our climate strategy. We share best practices from West Africa, engaging in policy development, and promoting resilient initiatives.
