Hope Through Health (HTH) is pleased to announce our new partnership with the East Harlem School (EHS) at Exodus House. The EHS is a year-round middle school that teaches children from low-income families in East Harlem to develop academic excellence, moral integrity, courtesy, and an unshakeable commitment to their future and the fate of their community. Through a unique partnership, EHS has generously loaned HTH a beautiful office space located in the EHS building to serve as HTH’s first US office. This new office will provide a workspace for HTH’s Executive Director, a home for volunteers and a location from which to direct HTH’s development, administrative and program support operations. But this partnership is about more than just office space. At the heart of EHS is a commitment to accompanying students from the East Harlem community to achieve their full potential. It is in this same spirit that HTH accompanies community members in northern Togo to design and deliver the healthcare services needed to improve the well-being of their communities. While the staff, volunteers and supporters of HTH dedicate their time and energy to improving the lives of adults and children living in far away communities in northern Togo, we remain deeply committed to our local communities here at home. Our partnership with EHS affords us the opportunity to interact with and learn from the school’s inspirational students. Through formal and informal activities EHS students will be invited to learn more about and explore ways to get involved in the movement for global health equity. In spite of the differences in our missions and populations served, HTH is inspired by the work of EHS and honored to be a part of their important effort. We thank EHS for taking a broad view of community building and including us in their extended family.
