July 16, 2012- Washington DC Hope Through Health (HTH) has been selected to participate in the Global Village of the XIX International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2012) at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC, July 22 – 27. Conference organizers selected HTH from over a thousand organizations which applied to be represented. Since 2004, HTH has provided services to thousands of women, men and children infected with or affected by HIV through a program which integrates medical treatment with social services provided by community health workers. At the Global Village, which is open to the public, HTH volunteers will provide detailed information about the success of this approach to HIV-AIDS. “We are extremely proud that we were chosen to be a part of the AIDS 2012 program,” said HTH Executive Director, Jennifer Schechter. “This conference could become an historic moment in the movement to combat the AIDS epidemic.” The theme of AIDS 2012, Turning the Tide Together, emphasizes how a global commitment can change the course of the epidemic through promising new results in HIV treatment and prevention and collaboration between governments, NGOs, High Education Institutions and affected communities. Please visit the HTH booth in the Global Village and check our blog, Facebook page and Twitter feed for updates from the Conference.
