Ama was a housewife in her community of Pessare where she lives with her husband whom she helps with his farming activities. She decided to apply to be trained as a CHW in order to work within her community to help reduce the high rate of preventable deaths of children under five and pregnant women. Ama’s ambition with this new CHW status is to change her, her family’s, and her community’s living conditions.
