Before becoming a Community Health Worker with Integrate Health, Nikabou worked as a UNICEF Community Health Worker to educate his community on hygienic sanitation practices. Integrate Health offered a fantastic opportunity to expand his scope and knowledge of healthcare. Before, his neighbors were unable to seek medical assistance from their local clinics and hospital due to lack of finances. Now he has seen a complete reduction of child mortality, a higher frequency of women seeking prenatal care, and increased awareness of acquiring medicine from licensed professionals. He is proud to teach mothers how to recognize danger signs in their and their children’s health, and sees these achievements as part of a larger development effort within Kabou Sara.
