Bonjour, mes amis!
We’re in the middle of an exciting few weeks in Togo. HTH Executive Director Jenny Schechter, co-founder Kevin Fiori, and their two-year old son Julien flew into Lomé last Saturday and arrived in Kara the next day. During their two-week stay, Kevin will be assessing the clinical program and Jenny will be working on strategic planning with the Executive team. Julien will be making plenty of new friends. Also visiting Hope Through Health’s sites are three student members of MIT’s GlobeMed Chapter. Jake Bograd-Denton ‘14 will spend two weeks in Kara working on data management and developing the capacity of our staff to use Access.
Laura Stilwell ’14 and Alicia Singham-Goodwin ’14 are spending a month in Kara. Laura and Alicia will be teaching a computer literacy training course to clinic staff to improve efficiency, management, and data collection, and ultimately patient care. They will also be implementing a GIS mapping project. This is the second technological training course that MIT GlobeMed students have supplied our Togolese staff; their first trip was this past January. We’re looking forward to the progress that these exciting next few weeks will lead to!
