Hope Through Health is pleased to announce the addition of two new team members at our clinic: Clarisse Gnang and Doguiga Dadjo. In our efforts to provide the highest standard of care in our Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission program, HTH has brought on Clarisse as a trained midwife. Due to stigma, pregnant women who get a positive HIV test often have significant barriers to treatment. Midwives at local hospitals and clinics may refuse to deliver births from HIV + women. With the addition of Clarisse, HTH looks to eliminate that barrier. “When I found out that I was chosen to work with HTH, I literally jumped for joy!” Clarisse said. Doguiga has a firm commitment to work with people living with HIV. His presence as a full-time nurse will greatly facilitate communication between clinical and community-based staff. “I have very close family members who are HIV+, so when I treat someone who has HIV, I see my own family in them. My first responsibility as nurse is to treat them with the respect and compassion that they otherwise wouldn’t get at other health institutions.” We would love to welcome our newest staff members by saying “Welcome!” in English “Bon arrivé!” in French “Itali dew!” in Kabye local language
