On behalf of our entire team at Integrate Health, we wish to express our solidarity with the Asian American Pacific Islander community. We repudiate, in no uncertain terms, all acts of violence, racism, and misogyny, including the horrific shooting that resulted in the deaths of six Asian women on March 16, 2021.
This tragedy comes at a time of rising violence and racism in the United States, disproportionately targeted at women. Hate incidents against Asian Americans rose by 150% in 2020, with Asian American women twice as likely to be targeted. The system of white supremacy that continues to exist in the United States means that any and all acts of violence perpetrated by a member of the majority group against members of minority groups, in this case Asian women, must be viewed as racist acts.
At Integrate Health, we are committed to doing our part to dismantle systems of oppression, including racism, misogyny, xenophobia, classism and neocolonialism, in the communities where we live and work, in the United States and in Togo. We commit to continuing to do the hard work required to push ourselves to live and act according to our anti-racist principles. You can read more about our work toward this commitment here.
We send our heartfelt solidarity to all members of the Asian American Pacific Islander community, especially women, and to all communities and individuals who suffer the devastating impacts of racism and discrimination, including violence, on a daily basis. Integrate Heath stands with you and alongside you in our collective fight for justice and equity.
